Georgia Tech’s overall number of Hispanic/Latinx students continues to grow. Total enrollment has topped 4,480, an increase of 1,400 in the past five years.
Nearly half of them (2,055) are studying engineering. Many are involved in student organizations that support and welcome Hispanic students.
“Being Hispanic at Tech is being a part of a welcoming familia and something to be very proud of,” said Paloma Santiago Walker, a biomedical engineering student and the president of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at Georgia Tech (SHPE). “It is inspiring to see the Hispanic community excel and push each other to accomplish their goals every day. I love to see my Hispanic friends on campus and the joy and hardworking nature with which our community carries itself. GT-SHPE has been my home away from home, where I’ve been able to create community and find a place for academic, social, and professional development. It’s been the place where I can proudly celebrate my culture and find footing at Tech.”
