ATLANTA — Atlanta Police said a suspect in a Friday afternoon shooting has surrendered at one of its precincts.
It happened in the Oakhurst neighborhood outside the BB Salon on College Avenue. Police said a 32-year-old man was shot and was taken to the hospital. The investigation by officers showed that the suspect and victim knew each other, and shots were fired due to an "escalating dispute," police said.
Authorities added the man who was shot was "alert, conscious, and breathing." APD said they recovered what they believe to be the suspect's gun at the scene.
On Friday evening, police initially asked people to avoid several nearby streets while they canvassed the area for a potential suspect. Officers also said law enforcement was in the 1400 block of Commerce Drive area as a part of the ongoing investigation.
Police said in a later update that the suspect voluntarily surrendered at the Atlanta Police Zone 6 Precinct.
