A new line of low pressure being tracked off the coasts of north FL and GA is producing showers and thunderstorms, forecasters say.

GEORGIA — Days after Hurricane Beryl, now a weakening post tropical cyclone near the Indiana/Ohio border, pummeled areas in the Caribbean, Mexico and Texas, forecasters are eyeing a new tropical disturbance, according to the National Hurricane Center.

A broad line of low pressure that has popped up in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of north Florida and Georgia is producing some disorganized showers and thunderstorms, NHC said.

The system has low chances of developing, just 10 percent during the next seven days.

“Environmental conditions appear only marginally favorable for some additional development of this system over the next couple of days before it moves inland over the southeastern

U.S. by this weekend,” NHC said.

Denis Phillips, meteorologist for ABC Action News, said there is no cause for concern.

“Non tropical. Will eventually be absorbed by a front,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “Nothing to worry about. Matter of fact, the Carolinas are in a big drought so this could be pretty helpful for some.”

Paul Dellegatto, a meteorologist for Fox 13, wrote in a Facebook post, “General high pressure, dry air, and Saharan dust will cover much of the tropics this week with no development expected.”

In Georgia, the sun is set to shine through Friday ahead of showers and thunderstorms through Tuesday. The highest temperature is expected to reach 96 degrees in Atlanta during the remainder of this week. Columbus could get as high as 100 degrees.
