One driver has been taken to the hospital after a road rage shooting on Georgia 400 on Monday morning, police say.
The shooting happened around 7:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway just before the Glenridge Connector.
"Two drivers were driving 400 northbound between Lenox Road and Windsor Parkway, and aggressive driving led to a road rage incident between the two drivers where one driver shot at the other driver and actually struck the driver," Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Leon Milholland told FOX 5's Deidra Dukes.
FOX 5 cameras on the scene saw a Toyota 4Runner with multiple bullet holes in the passenger's side on the side of the highway.
Investigators say the incident happened during a confrontation between two motorists over aggressive driving.
According to Sandy Springs police, one motorist shot the other and drove off.
Medics rushed the 4Runner's driver to a local hospital. They are expected to survive their injuries.
Two lanes of the highway were closed while officers worked at the scene. They have since reopened.
Detectives described the gunman's vehicle as possibly a dark-colored Tesla with tinted windows and dark rims.
"And we just as drivers out there, we've got to slow down," Milholland said. "We've got to be attentive, and we've got to be considerate of other drivers, and not get in a situation where our emotions get the best of us. "
