ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta police said a man is facing charges after his gun went off and shot a neighbor through an apartment wall late Saturday night.
Officers said a 24-year-old man was shot through the wall of his apartment at 2400 Campbellton Road, the Blue Harmony complex in southwest Atlanta’s Campbellton Road neighborhood, while he was watching television around 11:50 p.m.
The victim was hit in the neck, according to police. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital “in serious but stable condition.”
Police said the victim’s neighbor, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and charged over the incident. They said investigators believe the victim was shot because the suspect’s firearm was negligently handled.
Police have not identified the suspect or said what charges he’s facing.
