ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The last thing we need in north Georgia is more rain, and, thankfully, there’s not much in the forecast for the next week. Helene is post-tropical and has moved well northwest of Georgia into Kentucky. The storm wreaked havoc causing massive damage from Florida through Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia and Tennessee. Historic flooding occurred in the Atlanta area.

The storm will be nearly stationary and gradually weaken over the next couple of days. It will influence the weather in north Georgia - especially north of Atlanta. Look for breezy conditions with a lot of clouds developing on Saturday. The clouds will be thickest northwest of I-85. Highs will range from near 70 in NW Georgia to the low 80s southeast of Atlanta. A few passing showers are possible, mainly NW of Atlanta and in the mountains as spokes of energy wrap around Helene’s circulation.

Quiet weather is ahead for Sunday, but once again there will be some clouds - especially north and northwest of Atlanta. Highs will range from the mid 70s northwest to the mid 80s southeast of Atlanta. It will be near 80 in the metro area.

A long stretch of dry weather (just what we need) is likely through next workweek. Skies will gradually brighten, and highs will be in the low 80s with lows in the 60s. It might even reach the 50s late in the workweek.
