Scattered to numerous storms could drop into Georgia as early as Friday and arrive daily through Thursday.

GEORGIA — Much of the Southeast, including Georgia, could be the target of heavy downpours and localized flooding during the next several days, according to forecasts.

While some of the Southeast may escape the impending storms, AccuWeather reported rainfall could stretch from northern Florida to southern and western Georgia and on toward the west.

Southeast Texas to west and central Louisiana could get the brunt of the storms, AccuWeather reported.

However, the National Weather Service predicted Georgia will not be without daily showers and thunderstorms.

Scattered to numerous storms could pour over the Peach State, starting Friday afternoon, and prompt localized flash flooding across north, central and east Georgia. Frequent lightning and gusty winds could be possible with few strong storms, the NWS said.

While severe weather is not expected in the region, few daily storms can possibly become strong and generate localized flash flooding, frequent lightning and gusty winds, the NWS said.

Dry air will lose momentum across Georgia and the southern Appalachians, forcing humidity levels to slightly decrease, AccuWeather reported.

"Because of this, the risk of at least spotty showers and thunderstorms will continue through the weekend," AccuWeather reported.

Chatham County and southeast Georgia was at a moderate risk for rip currents until 8 p.m. Friday, the NWS said.
