ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The City of Atlanta hopes its rich culture and film production hub status will be the final curtain call in its bid to host the Sundance Film Festival.

The city officially submitted its proposal to be the host city of the film festival in 2027.

City officials said the proposal “highlights Atlanta’s diverse neighborhoods, status as a film production hub, cultural centers, event capabilities, commitment to climate action, ease of transportation, hospitality industry and inclusive and equitable business environment.” The proposal also shows how Sundance “can lay roots and be woven into the rich fabric of Atlanta’s culture,” city leaders said.

Atlanta is where the worlds of film, entertainment, economic development, diversity and inclusion meet and grow cohesively, together,” Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said. “We’re ready to show the Sundance Institute that Atlanta is the place where opportunities are endless, and Sundance can continue to shine.”
