DUNWOODY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police are investigating a deadly crash Monday morning on I-285 in DeKalb County.

According to the Dunwoody Police Department (DPD), officers responded to a reported crash on I-285 westbound at Chamblee Dunwoody Road at 4:43 a.m. and found six vehicles involved in a crash.

Officials say three vehicles were involved in a crash and then a second collision occurred causing a chain reaction with several other vehicles.

Police say one of the drivers involved in the initial crash was outside their vehicle and struck by other vehicles. That driver died at the scene. Five other people involved in the crash were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to DPD.

The crash has since cleared and the westbound lanes are back open to traffic.
