Amazon’s data center unit has acquired land outside Atlanta, Georgia.
Citing local property records, BizJournal reports Amazon Data Services recently purchased about 118 acres in Douglas County for $37 million.
The parcels were sold last month by real estate company Taylor andamp; Mathis.
Amazon acquired around 430 acres in Covington, some 40 miles east of Atlanta, at the turn of the year.
The company didn’t reply to BJ’s request for comment.
AWS doesn’t have a cloud region in Georgia but has a number of Edge locations – including CloudFront locations, a Local Zone, and a Wavelength Zone – in Atlanta.
Atlanta is a major data center hub with operators including Microsoft, CoreSite, QTS, DataBank, Flexential, Switch, DC Blox, Edged Energy, Stack, T5, Vantage, and EdgeConneX.
