MACON, Ga. — Many children are injured and a 17-year-old was arrested and charged on Thursday after a chase and wreck in Macon, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

They say deputies responded to Lamar Road around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday about a car break-in.

A witness described the car used in the break-in and later deputies found the car on Napier Avenue.

The car, a 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, was reported as stolen on Wednesday morning around 4 a.m.

They drove to Mercer University Drive where a Georgia State Patrol unit joined the chase and performed a PIT maneuver to stop the car.

The car then hit a utility pole at the intersection of Mercer University Drive and Burton Avenue.

The driver, 17-year-old Jakhori Woolfolk, tried to run away from the scene but was apprehended.

In total there were 10 people in the car at the time of the chase and crash.

One passenger, 17-year-old Yakerria Jones, was taken from the car and paramedics rendered aid.

The remaining passengers had to be extracted from the car. All remaining passengers were minors and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Two 13-year-olds, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old had to be airlifted to the Children's Hospital in Atlanta.

An 11-year-old is in a local hospital getting treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Three others, a 12-year-old, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, were taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center and charged with theft by receiving stolen property and entering (auto).

Woolfolk was taken to the Bibb County jail and was charged with theft by receiving stolen property (AUTO).
