ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Beautiful fall weather continues in north Georgia for the rest of this week. It will be in the 50s early Wednesday as you head out the door before 8 am. The temperature will climb through the 60s into the 70s by noon before peaking near 80 in the afternoon. We’ll have cool nights into the weekend as clear skies continue. There is no rain in the 7 day forecast.
Hurricane Milton
Milton was still a monstrous Category 5 storm with 160 mph winds at 11 pm Tuesday. Milton will remain a major hurricane as it tracks toward Florida with a landfall Wednesday night likely to the south of Tampa and north of Fort Myers. A 10-15 foot storm surge will bring catastrophic devastation to the coast. Wind gusts between 80-120 mph are possible near the coast. 10-15 inches of rain may fall along the northern edge of the track as it crosses Central Florida as a Category 1 hurricane early Thursday.
The wind field in Milton is expected to double by the time it makes landfall, which as resulted in a Tropical Storm Warning and Watch being issued for the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina, with tropical storm wind gusts possible along the Georgia coast late Wednesday night through Thursday.
