MARIETTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — For more than 90 years, the North Georgia State Fair has been a seasonal highlight in Cobb County.

The fair opened on Thursday, and will run through Sunday, Sept. 29.

The Fair takes place at Jim R. Miller Park, just outside Marietta. Organizers expect around 300,000 people to pass through the fairgrounds this year.

Devan Seabaugh is the board chairman for the North Georgia State Fair.

“The weather’s hot, so we’ve got an air-conditioned building and EMS on-site,” he said. “All to ensure that people have a safe and positive experience while they’re here.”

You can find a complete schedule and ticket prices here. The 10-day spectacle draws thousands of people. Check out the latest First Alert Forecast before you head out to the fair.

In light of recent events, security has been enhanced with over 80 Cobb County sheriff’s deputies patrolling the fairgrounds at all times.

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has also reconfigured traffic flow around the park to reduce congestion in nearby residential areas.

The most significant change involves Callaway Road, which runs along the park’s western side. It will be limited to local traffic only.

The Atlanta News First and First Alert Weather Team will be at the fair on Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22. Come out and meet the team, check out the First Alert Tracker and enjoy the fair.
