If you're a long-time reader of Only In Georgia, you might remember that I have a weakness for donuts. Whether I'm traveling to Atlanta or a small town, one of the first places I look for is a nearby bakery. When I'm traveling down to my hometown of Savannah, I don't even have to bother looking, because locals (and former locals, in my case!) know that the best donuts in Savannah, Georgia, are at Baker's Pride. This place has been serving up tasty treats since 1982 and is considered one of the best bakeries in Georgia.

You aren't going to find many crazy wild imaginative flavors here at this old-school bakery, but what you will find are homemade sweets that are some of the tastiest around -- served, of course, with the kind of warm and welcoming Southern hospitality for which Savannah is known.
Baker's Pride is located outside of the downtown historic district in midtown Savannah, so many tourists aren't even aware that it exists.
Inside, you'll find a humble little bakery that shows just how far Baker's Pride has come in its 30+ years. The bakery has expanded from a small corner store to the storefront you see today, which includes a dining area, full product display, and a large production area for multiple area wholesale clients and daily bakery patrons. Baker's Pride is also known for its delicious wedding cakes, which are picture-perfect works of art almost too beautiful to eat.
(You won't normally find it anywhere near this empty, by the way. These photos were taken at a 6:01 a.m. visit, just after the bakery opened for the day, but honestly, it's typically pretty crowded at any time of day!) Don't worry, though. The staff do a great job of keeping the cases well stocked, no matter the time of day.
And what will you find in those bakery cases? Donut nirvana! From the strawberry frosting to the apple fritters, each and every donut here is absolutely divine, delicious, and splurge-worthy. These are the kind of made-with-love treats sure to put a smile on your face.
My mom recently suffered some health issues in Savannah and I was having to drive across the state every weekend to manage her care - I often joked that if it wasn't for Baker's Pride, I couldn't have survived the stress, but there really is some truth in that! These sweet, made-from-scratch treats always have a way of putting a smile on my face. And I know I'm not alone: from "Savannah Magazine" to "Savannah Morning News" to TripAdvisor and Google, one thing is certain, the customers have spoken and Baker's Pride Bakery is widely regarded as Savannah's best bakery.
Savannah is so lucky to have you, Baker's Pride! For more information about these amazing donuts in Savannah, Georgia, check out the Baker's Pride website or Baker's Pride Facebook page.
Of course, Baker's Pride is just one of many amazing businesses in Georgia that’s doing great things in the state. I realize that serving "the best food in Georgia" is a pretty lofty claim - after all, we have countless restaurants located all over the state, many of which are quite delicious. Few, however, have the national accolades that Atlanta's Staplehouse has received since opening up in 2015. This place frequently appears on lists of best restaurants in the Peach State capital, with many considering it one of the nation's best eateries. It's also got a wonderful back story and supports a charity that's helped out countless residents of the Atlanta area in times of need. Check it out:

Staplehouse got its start as a supper club started by Jen and Ryan Hidinger. Opening a restaurant was Ryan's dream, but he sadly passed away in 2013. Two years later, his family would open the brick-and-mortar restaurant in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood.
The small restaurant can seat around 40 diners and features a prix fixe tasting menu for dinner and a traditional menu at lunch where guests can choose items a la carte for more of a relaxed experience.
Staplehouse focuses on locally-procured items that were grown nearby, meaning you get to enjoy the freshest foods possible here.
The restaurant is a for-profit subsidy of The Giving Kitchen, a charity that supports Atlanta restaurant workers undergoing hardships such as medical crises.
It would be easy for Staplehouse to rest on its laurels and gain business just based on its good story and charity work, but trust us, it doesn't.
Whether you opt to visit for a fun casual lunch or a more upscale dinner, you're in for a real treat, because everything here is incredible.
This is such a delightful spot that you'll fall in love with from the first visit.
