Artisans on the Square is pleased to announce its upcoming art exhibit SONGS OF THE SEA, The art of Vinayak Godbole and Avi Deshmukh, featuring a collection of acrylics and mixed media paintings from two talented Indian artists residing in Georgia. Vinayak captures the serenity, light colors and peaceful mood of the landscape while the Avi captures the dynamic beauty and rhythmic energy of the ocean.

The exhibit will be on display from July 13 to August 31, 2024. Everyone is invited to the opening reception Saturday July 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Artisans on the Square, located in downtown Greenville, GA, across from the courthouse.

Vinayak (left in photo), is a current resident of Peachtree City. He has a dual career as an aerospace engineer and as an artist. With formal education from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay and art training from the Chitra Mandir Art Institute in India, he has been painting portraits and landscapes since his college days. Color plays a central role in Vinayak’s work, which features geometric patterns resembling landscapes and uses flat elements in subtle colors to create a sense of distance. His compositions are designed to evoke a parasympathetic response. Vinayak’s work has been featured in galleries and shows around Atlanta, and he has participated in exhibitions in Bombay and other locations. His goal is to have his paintings displayed widely and to collaborate with designers, while also contributing to charitable causes through art donations.

Avi (right in photo) is a self-taught artist with a background in engineering. His professional career has been rooted in Information Technology, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence. He studied at the Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India and now lives in Alpharetta. The blend of analytical and artistic pursuits has been a defining feature of Avi’s life for the past 25 years. He approaches painting as a meditative practice that not only fulfills his creative needs but also enhances his problem-solving skills in the technological realm. Avi incorporates unconventional materials like pine straws, leaves, and wood chips to add texture and depth. Drawing inspiration from Google Maps and Google Earth, his pieces invite viewers into expansive, immersive landscapes. The vibrant hues and layered application techniques in his work create a sense of translucent light, adding drama and inviting viewers to connect deeply with the natural world depicted in his art.
