Inter Miami CF head coach Gerardo Martino has confirmed that Lionel Messi will be available for the upcoming matches against Atlanta United on Wednesday and New York City FC on Saturday. However, the extent of his participation in these matches remains uncertain.
Messi made his return to the field last Saturday in a 3-1 victory against the Philadelphia Union, after recovering from a right ankle sprain sustained during the Copa América final on July 14. This marked his first appearance in two months.
The Argentine star played the full 105 minutes of the MLS match and has since been training at full capacity, according to Martino.
“Leo is fine, he ended the game well. Tired, obviously,” said Martino. “It's the first 90 minutes in a long time, but it ended very well.”
“He is going to travel to both games. He is available but there are three games this week with travel included, so we have to see it day by day.”
