At the height of the pandemic, businesses across Georgia pivoted their operations to produce personal protective equipment (PPE) to fight COVID-19. It’s a story that reflects the strength of Georgians and the nimbleness of Georgia manufacturers. In two recent interviews with Georgia News Network and Atlanta Business Radio, Georgia’s Centers of Innovation (COI) Director of Manufacturing John Morehouse shared what the Centers have done to help support these companies’ efforts.
The Georgia supplier’s map, an initiative led by the Centers with the support of other Georgia Department of Economic Development divisions and partnership with Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS), has been a critical part of the State of Georgia’s response to the pandemic. Morehouse explains its creation and how, through the collaboration and relationships the state has built over years – this public-private partnership led to a new platform, which potential buyers (hospitals, offices, etc.) can access to find companies producing needed materials. The platform quickly became an efficient system, “connecting companies with a need, to companies with a solution.” It kept Georgians employed creating PPE, and our companies in need of PPE with ways to access those materials right here in the state.
The experts at Georgia’s Centers of Innovation provide industry expertise to help businesses resolve challenges essential for their growth – completely cost-free. In his Atlanta Business Radio interview, Morehouse highlights the Centers and the work they do with Georgia-based businesses.
