South America’s prestigious international soccer competition is coming to the United States, and Atlanta gets to kick off the party.

Welcome to Atlanta, Copa América 2024.

Atlanta has been selected as one of 14 host cities for Copa América 2024. The world-class Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host two group stage matches. International legend Lionel Messi comes to Atlanta as the Argentina 2022 FIFA World Cup champions defend their Copa América championship title facing Canada in the tournament opener on June 20. Seven days later, Christian Pulisic and the United States Men’s National Team take on Panama in their first-ever game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta.

The action won’t just be confined to the 90 minutes between the lines on the pitch. There will be plenty of activities and events for fans to enjoy across the city – both before and after the big matches.

Wild Heaven Brewery and Monday Night Garage

On June 19, Argentina fans are invited to Wild Heaven Brewery and Monday Night Garage at the Lee + White development in Westend for an “Argentina-style” pep rally. An organization known as thefloodproject is working with the consulate general of Argentina to provide a celebration of Argentinian soccer and culture before the big game on June 20. It’s free to attend with an RSVP, and there will be a raffle for a signed Lionel Messi jersey.

Wild Leap

Wild Leap will host a pregame party starting at 4 p.m. Wild Leap is walking distance from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and is offering two floors of space for the party. Expect a live DJ, food trucks, themed beer, cocktails, adult slushies and a raffle for Argentina gear and other exciting prizes. Tickets to this event cost $10 for early bird general admission, $20 for day-of admission and $30 and up for VIP admission. It’s an all-ages event and fans are highly encouraged to buy tickets in advance.

Soccer in the Streets

Soccer in the Streets is hosting a watch party near the Station Soccer fields at the Westend MARTA station starting at 7 p.m., an hour before kickoff. The “old-school block party” will feature giant screens, music, food and other refreshments. This is also free to attend and goes until 10 p.m. This appears to be a great alternative for fans who may not be able to make it to the stadium for the match.

When: June 20, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Where: Station Soccer field on Westend

After Party

If the pregame activities and the actual game aren’t enough for you, then there’s even an after party in the cards. Candela of Atlanta and Cachete of Argentina have come together to host an after party at District. Argentinian Latin trap rapper ECKO will keep the celebration going long into the night. This event is 21+ and tickets range from $20 to $50 with the doors opening at 10 p.m.

American Outlaws

While most Copa América events on and around June 20 are heavily focused on Argentina, things will shift in the direction of the United States once that game rolls around on June 27. The national supporters group American Outlaws (AO) will be in town and in full force showing support for the national team.

AO’s footprint won’t be limited to the tailgate. The American Outlaws also will host a night-before party on June 26 at Fado Irish Pub in Midtown. Truly Hard Seltzer will team up with SweetWater Brewing Co. to sponsor this event, which includes specials on both Truly’s and SweetWater beverages. The party will go from 6 to 10 p.m. and should serve as a great way to meet fellow soccer fans and get hyped up for the main event on June 27.

Where: Fado Irish Pub in Midtown

In partnership with Atlanta United supporter groups, AO will host a tailgate event at the Supporters Tailgate Lot 17 from noon on match day up until kick-off at 6 p.m. There will be $5 all-you-can-eat hot dogs, free Truly Hard Seltzer for attendees who are 21 and older, a live DJ, giveaways and even local vendors selling merchandise. Atlanta United tailgating events are fun to attend, and things should be no different with everybody coming together to root for U.S. Soccer.

Where: Lot 17, located between Northside Drive and Centennial Olympic Park Drive on the corner of Magnum and Mitchell streets.

MARTA at West End Station

Celebrate the start of the Copa América international men’s soccer tournament with an exciting watch party at West End Station, hosted by MARTA and Soccer in the Streets. This family-friendly community event is also supported by Atlanta City Councilmember Jason Dozier, Atlanta Influences Everything, and Coca-Cola. Watch the opening match between Argentina and Canada on a jumbo screen, indulge in delicious food from food trucks, groove to live music and participate in fun games.

Even if you can’t make it to the games or any of the events, you can’t go wrong by visiting one of the many Atlanta United pub partners on match day. Whether you’re going to a spot like Brewhouse Cafe or Park Tavern, any of the official pub partners across the Atlanta metro area should be worth visiting on either June 20 or June 27. Either way, there are plenty of options to enjoy the action with fellow soccer fans.

Atlanta is a soccer city and that will be on full display when the intense action of Copa América comes to the crown jewel city of the South.
