The Upton, a new luxury development in Chosewood Park, launches an artist residency program offering free rent and a stipend to create community-engaging art under the theme “Grounded-In-Your-Light.”

ATLANTA, GA – The Upton, Chosewood Park’s newest luxury multifamily development, is seeking proposals from talented artists across the country to join its residency program, themed “Grounded-In-Your-Light.” Curated by Gallery Residential, a premier property management agency renowned for supporting artists, the 18-month residency offers complimentary rent, expecting artists to create their work and participate in scheduled events three times a month.

Selected artists will receive a stipend, accommodation, and public exposure and engagement opportunities. Artists should submit by email their CV/resume, portfolio or samples of previous work, a detailed proposal for the “Grounded-In-Your-Light” theme, and two professional references.

“This residency aims to explore and interpret the concepts of Bohemian spirit, grounded playfulness, and personal illumination through artistic expression. We encourage diverse interpretations across various creative media, including visual arts, sculpture, musical performances, culinary arts, etc. The goal is to inspire introspection and a sense of connection with one’s inner light and stability, fostering engaging communities,” explains Melania Armenta, Director of Resident Strategy at Gallery Residential.

Acclaimed artist Lacey Longino, a mixed-media painter and muralist known for her bright, imaginative works that combine funky patterns with realistic portraits, was part of the first cohort of Gallery Residential’s artists-in-residence at a different property. She credits the program with helping her buy her home and jump-start her career path. She is committed to creating a piece at The Upton, which will be installed in the Paseo. Lacey is also working on unique installations at nearby Skylark and Red’s Beer Garden.

“I am thrilled to be part of The Upton’s program. This theme of ‘Grounded-In-Your-Light’ resonates deeply with my artistic journey. I look forward to creating a piece that inspires introspection and connection within the community,” says artist Lacey Longino.

The Upton, developed by META Real Estate Partners, is the newest Beltline community on the Southside Trail in the rapidly growing neighborhood of Chosewood Park. Located at 430 Englewood Avenue on a hilltop site, the development boasts prime skyline views and a strategic location. The Upton is positioned just south of The Beacon, a 110,000-square-foot destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Boulevard Crossing Park, which will soon receive a 20-acre expansion, is located to the east.

The project is backed by an all-star team, including General Contractor Fortune Johnson, Landscape Architects BC Studios, Civil Engineer Kimley Horn, and Architect and Interior Designer Dynamik Design. The Upton will offer unique amenities for residents, including a fitness concierge, an artist-in-residency program, an edible garden, and more.

“We have watched this area continue to grow with commerce and residential needs. We are honored to bring the newest luxury multifamily concept, with unmatched amenities, to historical Chosewood Park,” explains META Real Estate Partners.

META Real Estate Partners, which counts Old Fourth Ward’s North andamp; Line in its portfolio of residential projects on the Beltline, is projecting project completion for April 2025, with pre-leasing beginning in October 2024.
