ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man has been found guilty of rape and three counts of child molestation, according to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.
James Westley, 41, was sentenced to life in prison. Police began investigating the case in March 2023, when the victim’s mother reported that her daughter said Westley had repeatedly molested her in 2021 and 2022.
Westly claimed he wasn’t at the house during the incidents, but cell phone records proved otherwise, according to the district attorney’s office.
This isn’t Westley’s first prison sentence. In 2003, he was convicted of aggravated child molestation and molestation against relatives in Fulton County. He spent 10 years in prison, and the district attorney’s office said those victims testified in the most recent trial, describing similar abuse.
“We are deeply inspired by the victim’s bravery in coming forward to speak out against her abuser. Her courage was instrumental in securing justice and ensuring that the perpetrator can no longer harm others,” District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. said in a statement.
