ATLANTA, Ga. — A woman’s routine drive home turned into a terrifying ordeal when her car unexpectedly caught fire.

Shauna Hervey, better known as Mama K-Camp, the mother of Atlanta rapper K-Camp, was driving home with a friend on I-20 near Panola on Friday afternoon when her GPS unexpectedly rerouted her off the interstate to Glenwood Road.

Channel 2′s Tom Jones talked to Hervey, who said she normally doesn’t trust her car’s GPS, but this time, something compelled her to follow its seemingly off-course commands.

As she followed the new route, she started noticing other drivers honking and trying to get her attention. It wasn’t until she finally stopped on Glenwood Road that a man alerted her to the danger.

“He drove up on the side and was like ‘Yo, your car’s on fire,’” Hervey said.

She quickly got out of her 2020 BMW X6 and saw flames.

“I’m screaming to my friend in there, ‘Get out the car. It’s on fire! Get out the car!’” she said. Minutes after they were able to get out, the car was engulfed in flames and eventually exploded.

Hervey is incredibly thankful for the man who alerted her.

“I got to thank him. I gotta thank him because he saved our life,” she said.

Hervey said firefighters arrived quickly, but her car was completely burned.

They told her that the fast-spreading fire was likely caused by a gas line issue, and she is now in touch with BMW.

Hervey’s friend experienced breathing issues and was slow to get out of the car, but they both escaped without injury.

“It could have been much worse if we had ignored the GPS,” she said.
