Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium will play host to Super Bowl LXII in 2028, the NFL announced at its Fall League meeting in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday. The announcement was made following a proposal review by the NFL’s Fan Engagement andamp; Major Events Committee and a vote by full ownership.
“Renowned for its hospitality and rich sports and entertainment culture, Atlanta is a world-class event destination and a natural fit for Super Bowl 62,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a press release. “Arthur Blank has been a transformative figure in the Atlanta community, playing a crucial role in leading the bid to bring the Super Bowl back to the city.
“I have been fortunate to witness firsthand how Arthur continues to drive community engagement and economic development in the Atlanta community through his unwavering commitment to sports and philanthropy. We look forward to working with him, the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Sports Council and all of our partners on the ground to create an unforgettable experience for fans around the world in 2028.”
Hosting Super Bowl LXII will mark Atlanta’s fourth time as the site of the NFL’s championship game (XXVIII in 1994, XXXIV in 2000 and LIII in 2019). Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which was opened in 2017, hosted Super Bowl LIII in 2019 between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams. The Patriots won 13-3 in what was the sixth and final championship for the legendary pairing of quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick.

Leading up to the Super Bowl, Atlanta will also host NFL Honors, the Super Bowl Experience and Super Bowl Opening Night. Blank, who is the owner and chairman of the Atlanta Falcons, expressed his excitement for the city and stadium to showcase the sport on the biggest stage.
“This is a tremendous honor for the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia to be selected as host for Super Bowl LXII,” Blank said in a press release. “Thank you to my fellow owners for their trust in awarding Atlanta this opportunity, and thank you to Commissioner Goodell, Peter O’Reilly and the entire league for their continued leadership in making the NFL the greatest sports league in the world.
“Mercedes-Benz Stadium was built to host the world’s largest sporting events, and I know I speak for many when I say we are honored to bring it back to Atlanta in 2028 and build off the success of Super Bowl LIII in 2019. I look forward to working alongside our city and state officials as we continue to elevate Georgia as a premier, global sports destination.”
Before the game returns to Atlanta, Super Bowl LIX will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2025, Super Bowl LX will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and Super Bowl LXI will be held Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, in 2027.
