1. The Largest Outdoor Art Gallery in the Southeast

Set to the back drop of beautiful, bustling Midtown, this massive outdoor art exhibit showcases talented artists, both professional and amateur! This exhibition includes more than 200 art banners, and is condensed into just one square mile of Midtown!

And the best part, it’s totally free to walk around Midtown, take photos with all of the art, and enjoy the scenery! Check out more information about this amazing exhibit here!

2. Atlanta Contemporary

If you’re looking for some truly ground-breaking art, you’ve got to check out Atlanta Contemporary. With tons of incredible exhibitions, Atlanta Contemporary is one of the leading cultural innovators in the southeast. Right now they’ve got several must-see exhibits. And as always, Atlanta Contemporary is FREE admission.

Right now, Atlanta Contemporary has:

The Ear Pollen Series – A completely improvised concert series of 3-5 artists, curated by Klimchak! Learn all about it here!

Tatu – Based on artist Masela Nkolo’s desire to connect with their African heritage, ‘Tatu’ showcases a fusion of classical African art and contemporary art. Nkolo says, “This series was inspired by my experiences growing up as a teenager during the Congolese civil war. Because of the lack of electricity in my country, the oil lantern has always been a part of my life. Also, due to the war, simple tasks, such as walking to school meant exposing myself to a high risk of danger. Not having much money or access to anything, I used what was available, which was a screwdriver as my weapon of defense.” Learn more about it here!

Address: 535 Means St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

3. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia

Dedicated to contemporary art in Georgia, MOCA GA always has interesting local art to enjoy! From a modest beginning of just 250 works, MOCA GA has grown to house more than 1,300 works of art in the past quarter century!

Right now, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia has:

Jane Foley: The Gentle Empty, curated by Dr. Vivian Li. This exhibit of sculptures made from unexpected materials showcases the experience of queerness. Li says, “When complete, these forms, squeezed and wrapped by neons and dried in my hands, bear marks of the support and touch required to make them. The resulting sculptures’ hard and soft qualities, appearing both liquid and solid, are poetically thick with parallels to gender fluidity and the precariousness of “passing” as a queer person, existing as both and neither of the binary states, but rather something else outside them.” Learn more here!

And you can also view all the art in their permanent collection here!

4. The Warehouse

The Warehouse is a brand-new, free-to-the-public arts space created by John Wieland. With over 400 works by 250 national and international artists related to the overarching themes of house and home, there is plenty to explore at this brand new venue. This incredible collection features works by prominent artists like Cindy Sherman, Roy Lichtenstein and Howard Finster, among others.

Truth Told Slant: Contemporary Photography

Runs until August 11, 2024

With several photographers featured, this exhibit examines the subjectivity and and narrative told through photography. As opposed to the old way of documenting life: stiff, stale and unengaged, Truth Told Slant shows the “recent shift in how photographers have taken on the challenge of making meaningful images of the world around them.”

And the High just won ‘top 10 best Art Museums in the country,’ so you’ve GOTTA check ’em out!

7. Street Art andamp; Graffiti

It feels wrong to talk about art in Atlanta without highlighting the beautiful, creative street art from all over the city. Walking down the BeltLine or through the Krog Street tunnel, you’re sure to see some truly incredible art all around.

We’re so lucky to live in a city with painted walls, streets and buildings. If you see some beautiful street art on your commute or while you’re out and about–DM it to us @secret_atlanta and we might even feature it on our page!
