Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is pushing to help more Georgians access job training programs and strengthen the workforce.

Sen. Ossoff recently helped introduce the bipartisan Pathways to Prosperity Act alongside Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Mike Braun (R-IN), which aims to strengthen job training and skills programs at community and technical colleges.

The bipartisan bill would strengthen and expand the existing Strengthening Community Colleges Grant Program, a Federal program that provides competitive grants to community and technical colleges to support partnerships between colleges and employers. These partnerships are intended to align community and technical college workforce development programs to local industry needs; establish, improve, or expand high-quality workforce development programs; and bolster the workforce for in-demand industry sectors.

“Technical colleges, community colleges, and skills training can be the foundation for a middle-class standard of living,” Sen. Ossoff said. “That’s why I’m co-sponsoring this bipartisan legislation alongside Senators Reverend Warnock and Braun to help community colleges partner with private businesses to implement a curriculum that prepares their graduates for jobs in those fields at those companies.”

Since taking office, Sen. Ossoff has delivered historic investments to grow Georgia’s economy and create new jobs. Key Federal manufacturing incentives he helped write and pass into law have benefitted Georgia more than any other state, according to a recent study.

Earlier this year, Sen. Ossoff delivered Federal funding to Columbus State University to help develop a curriculum for semiconductor chips manufacturing as the region continues working to attract new economic investments in the booming chips manufacturing sector.

In April, Sen. Ossoff delivered Federal funding to strengthen workforce programs at the Automotive Training Center, which serves low-income, at-risk youth, and young adults ages 15-25 in metro Atlanta and offers students on-the-job training and experience in the automotive repair industry.

Sen. Ossoff also delivered Federal funding to Clark Atlanta University to strengthen the Cybersecurity Leadership Center and increase the number of career opportunities in the cybersecurity field, boosting opportunities for HBCU students.

In February, Sen. Ossoff welcomed U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo to Georgia to highlight $2.8 million of Federal funding being used to build the new Cobb Work Source Center in Mableton, part of Cobb County’s Career Training Program, CobbWorks.
